Helen Petrovitch, M.D.
Dr. Petrovitch is Chair of PHRI’s Department of Research and a key investigator on projects including Honolulu-Asia Aging Study, Epidemiology of Aging and Dementia – Autopsy Research, Brain Aging in the Very Old, Neurotoxins and Neurodegenerative Disorders in Japanese-American Men Living in Hawaii, and Risk Factors for Pathologic Markers of Parkinson’s Disease. Dr. Petrovitch also works on clinical trials in Parkinson’s disease. She is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, and serves as Chair of the Institutional Review Board for the Honolulu Department of Veterans Affairs. She is a Fellow of the American Heart Association Council on Epidemiology. She has been with PHRI since March 1998.
Dr. Petrovitch received her B.A. in Biology from the University of California at San Diego, her M.A. in Pharmacology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and her M.D. from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu. She is board certified in internal medicine.
