Vicki Shambaugh, M.A., M.P.H.

Vicki ShambaughMs. Shambaugh is PHRI’s Director of Research and Development, with responsibility for identifying and developing funding opportunities, researchers and research teams, collaborative research networks, evaluating research concepts, and developing and overseeing human research protection activities. In addition, Ms. Shambaugh is a key investigator on the Dept. of Energy/PHRI Special Medical Care Program in the Republic of the Marshall Islands; the NCI National Lung Cancer Screening Trial; and, the NCI Prostate, Lung, Colorectal and Ovarian Screening Trial. She started employment at PHRI in 1979.

Ms. Shambaugh holds a Masters degree in Medical and Population Geography and a Master of Public Health in International Health from the University of Hawaii. Her graduate degrees were earned as a grantee at the East-West Center, an international center developed and funded by the U.S. Congress to promote better relations and understanding among the people and governments of the U.S., Asia, and the Pacific. She earned her undergraduate degree with distinction from Ohio State University. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Independent Research Institutes and the International Health Evaluation and Promotion Association. She is past President of the East-West Center Association.
