Lon R. White, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. White is a Senior Neuroepidemiologist at Pacific Health Research Institute. In addition, Dr. White is Research Scientist and Neuroepidemiologist at Kuakini Medical Center in Honolulu, and Professor of Pediatrics and Adjunct Professor of Geriatrics for the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. Dr. White is a key investigator in PHRI studies including Epidemiology of Aging and Dementia – Autopsy Research, Epidemiology of Brain Aging in the Very Old – Honolulu-Asia Aging Study, Neurotoxins and Neurodegenerative Disorders in Japanese-American Men Living in Hawaii, Risk Factors for Pathologic Markers of Parkinson’s Disease Study, and the Parkinson Disease Neuroprotection Trial – Hawaii Center.
Prior to joining PHRI Dr. White served thirty-three years in various capacities with the National Institute of Health (NIH), the last few years as Chief, Asia-Pacific Office, Epidemiology, Demography, and Biometry Program (EDBP) for the National Institute on Aging (NIA), National Institute of Health.
Dr. White received his M.D. from the University of Washington School of Medicine and his M.P.H. in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene & Public Health. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and won the prestigious National Institute of Health Director’s Award.
