Major
PHRI Projects
PHRI currently has approximately 50 major long-term studies
under way with an annual budget of about $11 million.
The efficiency and high quality
of PHRI’s work is largely due to its collaborative approach to
health care research, which is possible due to PHRI’s position
as an independent research institute. This independence provides
an ideal setting for health providers to step out of
often-competing arenas and join hands in areas of mutual
interest to do important work of interest to society at large.
In so doing, the synergies
created through these partnerships facilitate complex,
interdisciplinary research that could not easily be duplicated
by a single research institution working alone.
With its collaborative
partners, PHRI’s current research includes studies of:
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Dementia
- Parkinson’s disease
|
- Neurodegenerative
disorders
- Longevity
- Hypertension
- Heart disease
|
In these and other projects with partners in Hawaii, the
Pacific, Asia and the mainland U.S., PHRI leverages its
core strengths in major research areas including:
- Clinical Trials
- Health Services Research
- Clinical Research
- Genetics
A summary of major projects
currently underway is provided in the “Major Projects” page. The
list of organizations with whom PHRI is collaborating to conduct
these studies is provided in the “Collaborations” page.
